H.M.S Victory

20.10.2004

Bounty is finished. Next project is started immediately. This time i wanted something different. No sails and not so much rigging. When i saw photo of this Panart kit, HMS Victory Bow section, i wanted it immediately. Kit itself is bought in summer 2003. Just to wait that i finish Bounty first. Of course, packed is opened and examined. Future shows how this will be build.

About Victory. Ship itself still exists, so follow link and find out history yourself. HMS Victory

In first few days i just looked around and tried to find that thin red line what to follow and how to start building. As there is Lots of different parts in hundred plastic bags. And because you have to build all decks, it makes it little diificult.

22.10.2004

Red line is found. First to grind correct angle to bulkheads. Then make decks one by one, starting from bottom. After that planking. And there is two plank layers to do. First is 1.5x6mm and second layer is 1x6mm planks. What after that. Future shows.

Size of hull is massive. Bounty is on next table, waiting for display case. And Bounty scale is 1:50. Victory scale is smaller 1:78 and still hull diameter is much bigger than in bounty.

Frames are ready. And first deck is glued on place. Deck planking is ready. There is lots of extra on sides to get deck planked fully to hull planking. As deck itself is little too small. We are talking about few millimeter. Also cabinet on lowest deck is on place. Two stanchions, varnish and we can move to next deck.

1.11.2004

Second deck is glued on place. Also i made first hatch and ladders. Making hatch was really easy with ready parts. Same to ladders. Just cut right size planks and glue them to ready cutted blocks. First deck planks are glued to deck.
